Historical Characters Murder Mystery Party
October 14, 2000
Clues
These individual motivations and clues are specific to the named
character and are revealed only to him or her.
- Margarete Bohr
There are two things which Margarete Bohr, Lise Meitner and Marie Curie
have in common:- They are married women.
- Enrico Fermi
Yes, all three of you have had flings with the dashing Italian
Stallion. However, not all is well in this love quadrilateral. Fermi,
who had left Potsdam two days before the murder had shunned all three of
you for a maid (of all people). This is the very woman who now lies
dead! You find it hard to believe that one of your two friends could do
such a thing, but they also cheated on their husbands, so who knows what
they are capable of?
One clue may be that Fermi was growing increasingly agitated the last
times you were with him. His habit of talking in his sleep (that's how
you found out about his other trysts) and his refusal to see you because
you are "Too close to the science and the danger" is puzzling. The last
night you were together he kept murmuring, "if you know, you will die" in
his sleep.
Over desert you must discover what this could mean? Did the maid learn
too much? What papers was she carrying? You must find out what your
friends know/suspect!
By the way (a question for you to ask): Why would Tokyo Rose be
included in this group? Isn't everyone else with the
allies?
- Harry S. Truman
You should search out your Russian counterpart as soon as possible
(scene #2) to settle your fears that undercover agents from your side,
his side or someone else's may be involved in the murder and that the
security of the meeting may have been compromised. Air your fears as
to whom you think could be a spy, based upon your observations, but
try to get him to admit more.
- Tokyo Rose
Stalin and Truman, those two imperialist swine are men of no
conscience and will go to any lengths to further their power. You saw
them passing letters in the hall on the first morning, and shortly
thereafter the maid was found murdered and clutching unidentifiable
papers. It is quite clear that something is fishy here. Let them
know that some are still prepared to stand up for justice and expose
their deeds. You should wait for them to show their collusion then
attack them openly to clear this mess up before the hors d'ouevres are
cleared......
Of course, you're trying to save your own ass. You have been told
that a foreigner will give you information that will allow you to save
millions of innocents and your humanitarian side cries for justice
after you were mistreated in both the USA and Japan. You don't know
what the information is or who will give it to you, but you suspect
that had you been holding the now charred papers, your corpse would be
the one under inspection. You must get the papers from your
collaborator over the course of the conference without anyone else
knowing. For if you live and others die, what have you acheived in
your life?
- Josef V. Stalin
You should search out your American counterpart as soon as possible to
settle your fears that undercover agents from your side, his side or
someone else's may be involved in the murder and that the security of the
meeting may have been compromised. Air your fears as to whom you think
could be a spy, based upon your observations, but try to get him to admit
more.
- James Dean
You must get on the scene like a sex machine. After brushing off Miss
Monroe (that slut) earlier she got all emotional and tried to blackmail
you for "news your prepubescent fans would not find
palatable". Whatever. Knowing this is the ploy of a desperate woman, you
are able to set out on your goal for the conference:
Over dinner (scene #3) seek out Turing who is a code breaker much like the
one you will play in your fourth film, "U-666: Satan's Code", a daring
project which will probably be shelved for, oh, say, uh, 55 years if you
are unable to complete it. You are trying to pump him for character
information on how a real code breaker acts. Copy his mannerisms, his
style. Get into his character. You must BE this man.
- Marilyn Monroe
Honey, we've gotta talk. James Dean is a subverter of the American
way! He is a gasp homosexual gasp, gasp who has spurned your
affections! In a jealous rage you send him a threatening letter, telling
him that he will be exposed if he doesn't repent from his immoral
behavior. Immediately thereafter, the maid dies! This odious man will
stop at nothing in his nacissistic pursuit of power and adoration! You
believe the charred letter was your own and she was killed to keep his
secret under wraps.
Once he and his secret lover expose themselves (scene #3) you must alert
the other guests before you all die under the avalanche that is Dean's
vanity and libido. The letter and his assosciations are the smoking guns
in question.
- The Remingtons
Solving this whodunit is easy! Youdunit! However, you still have a task
to perform.
[background]
You received information that Turing, the master British code breaker was
trying to convey the secrets of the atomic bomb to the enemy! You saw him
deliver the secrets to the maid in an envelope. Your plan was to replace
the plans with false information and watch the person who accepted the
envelope to find out who he/she was working for.
This went awry.
The maid refused to cooperate and threatened to expose you. You couldn't
allow this to happen and had to kill her (one shot). Just then, someone
came up in the elevator. You couldn't be found with the bomb data and
couldn't let anyone else know of its existence, and, thus had to burn the
plans. You then fled.
Your goal is still the same. Turing's treasonous nature will lead him to
try to give the plans to his contact at the conference. You must find out
who this person is without letting Turing discover you!
Oh, also everyone else is trying to figure out that you're "it"!
Sorry.
- Lise Meitner

- Enrico Fermi

you are "Too close to the science and the danger" is puzzling. The last
night you were together he kept murmuring, "I am mother of destruction" in
his sleep.
Over desert you must discover what this could mean? Did the maid learn
too much? What papers was she carrying? You must find out what your
friends know/suspect!
- Alan Turing
Boyfriend, did you see the way James Dean smiles at you? He is
interested. There is no doubt about it. And, damn, can that man wear a
pair of denims or what? He is obviously interested in you, and even the
dangers you face can't blunt your desire. In addition, you know that the
friendship of such a powerful media figure will help you to draw attention
to the injustices perpetrated in the world. Let him know your philosophy
that we must spread love and peace in the world. Ok, enough about his
libido.
[background]
You know that you are the cause, though not the executor of the poor
maid's death. You had been running some algorithms on internal British
codes to test their robustness and came across some alarming news. The
British and Americans (and probably the Russians, too) have discovered the
ability to harness something called "atomic power" and have the "Ultimate
Bomb" which will be able to kill millions of people. What's more, they're
planning to use it. The only remaining opponent in the war is Japan and
the only way to kill millions is to hit a city - troops and naval convoys
never cluster in a way that this weapon could be used in any other
way! As a profoundly moral man, you know that the Japanese people must be
given at least the choice of living through surrender or dying. You mean
to acheive this by giving Tokyo Rose your information over the course of
the conference. You had given the maid an envelope containing the
information to slip into Rose's room in exchange for a few dollars. Then
you joined the cocktail party to discover that she'd been killed and that
the envelope had been destroyed.
[YOUR MISSION]
Now, you must, over the course of the evening, slip an envelope containing
your backup copy of this information to Rose without the maid's
killer(s) seeing you. You know that they're on to you, but something is
stopping them from snuffing you. Maybe they're after something more......
(you must provide the envelope yourself as I will not be there and
Kalee and Theron aren't in on the plot)

his sleep.
