SME LIGHT Links

Following are some cool science links contributed by various SME LIGHT faculty, TA's, and students. You can use these for fun and as inspiration for your web reflections. You are encouraged to find and contribute other links to this page during the course of the quarter. To make a contribution, send email to kaleeg@leland.stanford.edu with the url for the site and a short description.

• The Penultimate Pinhole Photography Site: no explanation necessary.

• Physical Review: A lot of very cool science articles written for a non-science audience. These are great places to go for inspiration for your reflections.

• "Anthropic Coincidences Page": reflections on some physical phenomena that make it possible for life to exist.

• Of Quasars and Quanta: An interesting site for the philosophy of science.

• Optical Illusions: this is where Kelly found the introductory demo for the first lab of the quarter on vision.

• Phases of the moon: this is a highly cool site that will show you the phase of the moon on any date from 1800 to 2199 A.D. Some people say that more people are born during the full moon (the Stanford hospital actually staffs for it!). Were you?

• Information about SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and other ways that light affects moods.
